Upper School Counselor

Middle School Art Teacher

Phoenix Country Day School (PCDS) is seeking a 5th and 6th Grade Art Teacher for the 2018-19 school year. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in art, or an art related field, is required. A Master’s degree in art education is preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior teaching experience and facility with both two and three-dimensional art materials.

Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor for 10-12 middle school students, attending middle school class trips, as well as serving as an active member of the 6th grade faculty team.

Communications Specialist

The Communications Specialist will report to the Associate Head of School, who leads all-school communications and marketing, and will work closely with the offices of Admissions, Advancement, Athletics and three dynamic divisions of our Pre-K through high school community.  The Communications Specialist will help develop and enact broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and branding plans, each designed to further the reputation of Phoenix Country Day School.  

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Execute annual marketing plans that engage internal and external constituents in the support and promotion of the school.
  • Support the creation of a variety of materials meant to increase the school’s visibility and top position in the educational market, and enhance the public’s perception of the school.
  • Maintain the strategic and creative direction of the school’s website.
  • Manage an integrated online presence across social media platforms.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships between PCDS and the media as well as other community organizations; provide a steady and relevant stream of press releases touting the PCDS experience to the broader community.
  • Work across all divisions and departments, including athletics and arts, to trumpet student and faculty activities and successes.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions, Alumni, and Development teams to develop and execute strategies to recruit prospective students and engage committed alumni and families.
  • Communicate clearly and often with outside contracted creative support, including graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and website technicians.
  • Attend some evening and weekend programming in order to document and promote school initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the school.

Lower School Teacher

Phoenix Country Day School is seeking a Lower School teacher, for the 2018-2019 school year. Our program philosophy is that we seek to care for the whole child with passion and joy.  Creating strong relationships with families is an integral component of the PCDS program, as we believe that active parent involvement is critical to a child’s success. 

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Education, and possess a deep understanding of children’s developmental stages.  You would be joining a team that values collaboration and teamwork.  This team will be focused on co-creating curriculum that uses inquiry-based teaching strategies, with an emphasis on collaborative learning and active student engagement.  Strong verbal and written skills are mandatory.

Middle/Upper School General Music Teacher

Phoenix Country Day School is seeking a full-time, general music teacher for the 2018-19 school year.  This position is responsible for engaging and inspiring students using a variety of techniques in grades 5-12.  

The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work as part of a collaborative faculty.  Experience with the Orff Schulwerk approach, choral music, vocal instruction and the integration of technology into music education are desired.  Familiarity with the State and National Standards for music education required. 

Minimum qualifications/requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education
  • Master’s Degree preferred
