PCDS Athletics Overview

In our continuing efforts to educate the whole child, athletics at Phoenix Country Day School provide multiple co-curricular offerings that balance the academic and artistic disciplines.  Students participating in athletics at PCDS develop teamwork, leadership, communication, and time-management skills that apply not only to their sports, but also their academic experience.

While PCDS fosters athleticism in its Lower School program through Physical Education and some of its After-School Programs, competitive athletics begin in the Middle School and continue through the varsity level in the Upper School.  A hallmark experience of many PCDS athletes is the ability to compete at an extremely high level, contend for and win championships, while also being able to participate in multiple sports throughout the year.  While some students will specialize in a given sport or season, most PCDS students play multiple sports, including the varsity level, each year.

As a result of our commitment to the personal and athletic growth of our students, PCDS offers more than 50 athletic teams per year school wide, and over 80% of students in grades 5-12 participate on at least one team per year.
