Science 8 Catalina Field Project Links Page

Project Overview
The Catalina Field Project is the culminating project for the 8th grade fall trimester. Students travel to Catalina Island to complete a field research project that includes using GIS and other ecological monitoring equipment. Each project is researched by a team of 2-5 students.

What habitats do marine animals prefer?

How does marine life coloration vary?

Where do the predators of the kelp forest ecosystem live?

What factors influence where the marine animals can be found?

Ecology of the holdfast.

Where do the fish live?

Sea surface temperature and the kelp forest. How does El Niño effect the kelp forest and the fish that live there?
