cleanup techniques from and images fromhttp://response.restoration.noaa.gov |
Pre- lab:
Begin by reading about oil spills and view the results and preliminary conclusions about the Exxon Valdez Spill of 1989. Good sources of information include National Geographic Magazine, National Wildlife magazine and Scientific American Magazine. All are available in the PCDS library and on line through our PCDS website.
This lab will be of the students own design based on the procedures discussed in class and the handout given. Students may also look for ideas here at the NOAA office of response and restoration. Students should use the standard lab format outlined here. Students should bring in materials to test during their lab day.
