Summer Programs Frequently Asked Questions 2017
How do I enroll my child?
Online enrollment becomes available in early March. To enroll, click the Online Registration Portal button on www.pcds.org/summer or any of the related pages.
I created a family account last year. Do I need to create a new one this year?
If you are a returning family you do not need to create a new family account.
What if I’ve forgotten my password?
If you’ve forgotten your username or password, you may enter your email address or account number on the login page and we will email them to you.
What if I’ve forgotten which email address I used last year?
If you have a family record but cannot remember or do not have access to the email address you used previously, contact our office for assistance.
My oldest child will not be attending this year, but my youngest child will. Do I delete the oldest? How do I add the youngest?
You can activate or add students individually by following the instructions once you are in your family account.
I’m not sure of my summer plans. How late can I register? Can I add sessions later?
Keeping in mind that many classes will reach maximum enrollment, you may enroll in classes as long as there is still availability.
How will know if my child is enrolled?
Your child is enrolled when you register for your child’s program, select classes, and submit your deposit.
When are payments due?
Your enrollment deposit will be credited to your program balance. Payments are due as follows: Session 1 - May 15; Session 2 - June 1; Session 3 - June 15. Statements will be emailed.
How often do classes meet?
Classes meet Monday through Thursday in two-week sessions.
How early can I drop off my child?
Classrooms are open at 7:45 each morning. Supervision in the courtyards begins at 7:30 am.
What if my child arrives late in the morning?
If your child arrives after 8 am, please enter through the Administration Building so that your child can select afternoon electives.
What if I am detained and cannot pick up my child by 3 pm?
Please call the office if you are unable to arrive at the regular pick-up time. Your child will be escorted to the Extended Day classroom. Extended Day is available up to 5:30 pm.
What if I need to pick up my child early?
If you need to pick up your child before 2:45 pm, please come to the front desk in the Administration Building and a counselor will bring your child to the office.
What are the hours of the program?
Morning classes begin at 8 am. Dismissal is between 2:50 - 3:00 pm.
Where do I drop off my child?
You are welcome to walk your child in each morning. Our counselors will be on the sidewalk in front of the Administration Building at 7:30 each morning to help students find their classrooms.
What happens on Fridays?
Special Friday activities, including weekly theme activities and electives, are for students enrolled in the 5-day program. Friday activities begin in the Dining Hall.
Is drop-off different for kindergarten and first grade students?
Yes; please walk kindergarten and first grade students to their classrooms.
Where do I pick up my child?
Pick up kindergarten - 2nd grade students in the Dining Hall (Bldg. B). Students 3rd grade and up are picked up in Burch Hall (Bldg. C) between 2:50 - 3:00 pm.
Is lunch provided?
A fresh, nutritional lunch provided by Sage Dining is available for an additional fee. Please sign up for lunch service when you enroll your child. Lunch is not available on a per meal basis. Download this summer’s lunch menus.
Can my child bring lunch from home?
You are welcome to send a packed lunch with your child. Lunches may be dropped off in Burch Hall for cool storage until the lunch hour.
Does my child need a backpack?
Students keep their personal belongings with them during the day. You will need to pack a swimsuit and towel if your child plans to participate in pool activities, either in the morning or during electives.
How does the elective period work?
Each morning during the 8:00 class, your child will select two afternoon elective classes. Electives include gym games, swimming, arts and crafts, game room, bingo, computer games, and movies.
What if my child gets sick during the day?
If your child does not feel well during the day, he or she will be taken to the Administration Building. We will follow your instructions from the medical release you completed upon registration.
Should my child bring a water bottle?
If your child is participating in any outdoor activities, you will want to send a water bottle. Water is available in all classrooms.
Is there a swim test?
Students enrolled in Art of Play and Surf’s Up, who want to participate in the Fun Swim elective, will be scheduled for a swim test on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of each session.
Can my child take swim lessons during afternoon electives?
Fun Swim is available during the afternoon elective period. Kindergarteners, 1st, and 2nd graders must pass a swim test prior to participating in Fun Swim elective.
Where is the Extended Day program located?
Extended Day is available until 5:30 pm in the band room (Bldg. L). Please sign up for Extended Day when you enroll your child.
