Learn more about the Annual Fund

Let me begin with a note of thanks.
Last year, our overall annual giving increased over 25%!  The PCDS Annual Fund, Endowment Giving, The Individual and Corporate Tax Credits, and your countless volunteer hours are our most critical source of support to finance everything from teacher salaries and professional development to class trips, maintaining our incredible campus, and providing the best tools for our students.

This year, we feel confident that we can not only reach, but surpass, our goals:
  • Bridge–the–Gap between the 80 percent of families who gave to the Annual Fund last year and the 100 percent of families who care deeply about our students, school, and spirit.
  • Continue to reconnect with our alumni across the country.
  • Celebrate with a series of local and regional alumni events and reunions.
  • Increase the total Annual Fund amount to solidify our footing as the best independent school in the Southwest.
Please consider joining your fellow parents, Alumni and Friends with a gift to PCDS, not only to show your tremendous support but to encourage our constituents to invest every year and, by doing so, make a difference for a lifetime.

Allow me to indulge in a bit of school history…

In 1972, PCDS was a fledgling school led by a young headmaster, Robert Peirce, who urged teachers to emphasize inquiry and discovery. “We attracted top-notch faculty who really changed the whole tone here,” recalled Peirce. One of those faculty members was a young educator from Pittsburgh named Paul Schweikher. Referring to Headmaster Peirce’s dictum, Paul said, “This kind of teaching and learning was not only permitted, it was encouraged!” After 40 years as a PCDS teacher, college counselor, and mentor to fellow faculty and staff, Paul would agree that what made the school so exciting back then has only gotten better—this year, over 700 students in grades pre-k through 12 will ask and be asked tough questions, develop important relationships, and make discoveries about themselves and their community through the encouragement of classmates and teachers. With your support, you become part of this life-changing experience.
You have the opportunity to help create a lasting legacy and leave our school, as they say, “better than you found it!”
The Advancement Team looks forward to working closely with you, hearing your thoughts and ideas, and keeping the conversation going.
