Defined only in 2011, by Dan Bloom, Climate fiction is a growing genre that explores "novels and movies with climate themes." This class would offer students an exploration into the importance of climate fiction as a genre and the distinctions between climate fiction and environmental or science fiction, as well as a real life look into the way genres are formed and defined in the literary world. Authors would include contemporary, international writers, including Amitav Ghosh, Barbara Kingsolver, T.C. Boyle, and Octavia Butler.
