Upper School Fall Play
Scenes from
Metamorphoses
by Mary Zimmerman
Perhaps most noted for its set being centered around an actual swimming pool on stage, Metamorphoses, by playwright and director Mary Zimmerman, is adapted from the classic Ovid poem Metamorphoses. The play opened off-Broadway in 2001 and won several Tony Awards. It is based on thousands-year-old, stories presented in vignettes. Both presentational and representational in style, the show features many of the characters who are familiar to audiences from common myths and legends including King Midas, Eurydice, Zeus, Orpheus, and Aphrodite.
PCDS's production boldly utilizes a swimming pool in Dorrance Auditorium, built by our Stagecraft class, and welcomes our small audiences onto the stage for intimate stadium seating on the set itself.
